The potential hazards of coal mine gas (CMG) and methane emissions can be greatly reduced by properly harnessing power generation and heating.

Today, most large underground hard coal mines probably contain coal methane and waste coal methane, which can be efficiently used by natural gas engines to generate electricity and heat.

However, sudden changes in THE composition of CMG put higher demands on the engine. INNIO provides a special gas mixing and engine control system that enables efficient use of this gas to achieve relative low concentration of CH4

In addition, the YDN gas engine is designed to operate at full capacity at low air pressure, high humidity, dust loads and altitude.

The energy generated can be used in coal mines to meet electricity demand, or plugged into the public grid. The heat can be used for field heating or fed into district heating systems.
